federal income tax forms

Mother is retired, receiving Social Security...does she still file federal income tax forms?.
My mother had to file last year because she had some income besides Social Security. This year, however, she has only received Social Security. Does she still have to file federal income tax forms? She also gets minimal interest off of a CD and savings account.
If Social Security is her only income then she does not need to file. However you say she gets "minimal" interest from a CD and savings account. Define "minimal" please and I can give you an definitive answer. To be absolutely acurate I'd need to know how much her annual Social Security is as well.

Federal Income tax Form question...?.
one of the univ.s that i applied to asks for my parents "signed federal income tax"- my parents had a preparer but on the second page - there's these 2 numbers in place of where their signatureas are to be and nothing where the preparer's signature is supposed to be (although they do provide their info and all in sum previous quest.)
since they had a preparer fill this form out should i take it to them and make them sign it? and what are those numbers- is that supposed to be like that....
And am I supposed to send ALL the 15 pgs-- or just the first two
thanks anyone-- im so lost
Send them every thing and only copies not the originals you will need them possibly for other applications. The numbers I assume are because they E-filed they are pin numbers your folks selected and the lack of signatures shouldn't matter. Good Luck.
