What happens if I don't pay my state taxes?.

I'm a college work study student so I don't make much money. I didn't file state taxes last year, and because I waited till April 14th to worry about it, I wasn't able to do them this year either. Now I have filed my federal taxes online at turbotax.com but I didn't have the money to have them do my state tax as well so I just didn't do it. While on turbo tax, I noticed that I owed the state 12 dollars from last year, so does that mean that I'll only owe a small amount? Is there a limit to how much you can owe before you're in trouble? Overall, what happens if I don't pay my state taxes?

It really depends on the state. Some states are very aggressive in collecting tax debts, some are less aggressive.

It may be $12, and that may be not enough to get the state tax collectors after you. But some states have outrageous (to me, anyway) penalties for not filing, so it may be a lot more than $12.

Pick up a state form at the library, and do it. It really isn't that hard (well, for most states). Some states have online options, google for [state name] dept of revenue and you will usually get them.

Finding The Amount Of Mortgage Interest That One Can Deduct

i had a fed tax lien that was resolved without penalty. How do you get that off your records?.

the lien was filed because the IRS admittedly screwed up..they could not matchmy filing with their records and filed the lien due time limit..after matching the documentation the lien was released. but it is still on my credit report and county appraisal records..

You don't get it off the record. It should show up on the credit report as withdrawn which is different than released.
