federal income tax filing deadline

How do I get my refund?.
I filed my 2010 Federal Income Tax return in Jan. 2011. In march, when I had not received my refund I called the IRS and was informed that I had been selected for a review. Not an Audit, a "Review". then I got a letter saying I had neglected to take the "Making Work Work" credit, and my refund was actually $400 more than I anticipated, and I should have it within 4-6 weeks. It's now been 6months, and all the IRS tells me is that it's still being reviewed. They don't know why, or how long it will take; and they have no deadline to comply with. I've contacted the Taxpayer Advocates' office and they don't return my phone calls. The U.S Attorney Generals' office can't help. Tax Lawyers only deal with debt problems. Anyone know where I can turn for help?
I have not gotten Any part of the refund. They just told me that I have an additional $400 coming.
Let's start with the basics.
The MWP credit was available to all adults who had earned income in the right range. The processing computer assumed from the data on your return that you were eligible. The letter telling you about it was a canned letter, that did not take the "review" into account.
The IRS turned all of their fraud control programs on to the hilt this year. Any return that looks funny is being held until it can be reviewed closer. I'm aware of returns that were snagged due to excessive withholding relative to the income shown, amounts that didn't make sense (many people try to file from their paystubs rather than wait for the W-2), W-2 from employers who'd never issued one before, etc. The IRS waited for the employer copie of the W-2s to come in--large employers tend to be available in May, smaller employers later.
If there questions about the employer or you being legitimate, the delays can be forever.

The list is ongoing respective to its criteria though it is not significant to know all the forms. The most important thing is to know which form is suitable for your tax situation as well as which form will be benefited for you. The IRS has given an option to file your tax return online instead of using the traditional way of preparation and filing with the pen and paper as it is more confusing and costly. The online tax preparation is not that difficult task as anyone can do it without being a master of it as it guides you step-by-step and calculate accurately.
