tax return 2008 online

I have some earnings from work in Dec 2008. When to I need to do the tax return?.

Some one has told me that work between April 2008 and March 2009 doesn't need to be declared until 31st January 2010 (if done online).

Just to add my bit. The UK tax year goes from 6th April to 5th April, so 6th April 2007 to 5th April 2008 income goes on your Tax Return issued 6th April 2008, your income for 6th April 2008 to March 2009 should go on your Tax Return issued on 6th April 2009. A paper copy has to be done by 31th October 2009, on-line by 31st January 2010. The calendar years 2008 and 2009 aren't relevant.

I just filed a prior year (2008) federal tax return with filelate.com in which I should receive a refund.?.

The problem is that when it came time to confirm and electronically file, their program immediately sent me back to the home page to start over. This is after clicking "confirm & save" @ each category. But it looks like there isn't any record or indication I had already prepared a return. So I sent an unanswered e-mail to them and they have not answered any phone calls. After checking reviews from Yahoo!!, I have decided I should have never used them in the first place. Can I proceed and immediately pick another online tax service? How can I be for sure that filelate.com won't file? Who is your best prior year tax filing service??

Electronic filing is only for current year filing (2010)
Prior year returns must be mailed in to IRS and must be mailed to appropriate address. If you are filing 2008 b/c IRS is holding your 2010 refund then your return must be mailed to the Austin Texas address listed on your letter.
Or call the phone number listed on any IRS letter you may have received for appropriate address.

Make sure to have your current address on the return and Don't forget to sign the return with a current signature date.
