State Income Tax Refund
When will Alabama issue state income tax refunds?.
Just wondering when Alabama will be issuing state income tax refunds. We filed on 2/2 and have been looking for our direct deposit ever since. Received our Federal CHECK on the 28th of February.
My husband just called to say that he finally spoke with an Alabama Dept. of Revenue employee who stated that, by state law, refund checks may be mailed as late as July 15th without penalty. After that date they have to begin paying interest. So, considering the state coffers are pretty bare, don't look for your refund before summer.
We filed electronically also on 3/15 and still haven't gotten anything. I called revenue departement also and was told it could be up to 12 weeks. When I checked status on line today, it said 6-8 weeks. Needless to say, I will have to file and extension as I am needing my alabama refund to pay my federal taxes. But as of right now, I wouldn't hold my breath to getting it anytime soon.
