Which Tax Software

What is the best tax software to use when filing a 1099 tax form? Which will maximize my write-offs?.
I do part time consulting on the side, and my boss is paying me under a 1099 form. Now I've been told that you can write off a good bit of things when getting paid this way. Anyone have suggestions as to which tax filing software is the best to use when filing this way? I'm really not making enough at this part time job to warrant a tax professional to prepare my taxes, however I would like to know about any write-offs I can apply.
There is no software that offers a complete list of every possible thing you can deduct. It would be next to impossible, since there are so many professions, and you can't deduct the same things for all of them. I can't deduct a hair dryer, but a hairdresser can, for instance.
I love the new TaxCut software. With it, you are able to call on an experienced tax professional if you get stuck or have questions. If you get in over your head, you can click a button and have your information transferred to the tax office (even the tax professional) of YOUR CHOICE for them to complete in the office. Or you can choose to have online help from someone trained to handle your specific situation. This can be really really helpful. Last tax season, I fielded lots of questions from people using TaxCut, and it's a free convenience to pick up the phone and call.
There's also an online service called "Tango" where you and a tax professional do the return together, allowing you to pay much much less than going to a tax office, but to still get the suggestions about what you can deduct, and credits you might not have thought of, from a qualified pro. Sounds like that might be a good option for you as well.
Finally, don't forget that a lot of offices offer to check your self-prepared tax return for little or no charge. This will give you some peace of mind, and some tax offices will guarantee the return once they've checked it, which is nice.
Let me know if you need more information on any of these things!
